Kat Whitesides
Violin I
Violinist, Kat Whitesides performs in a variety of settings, styles and venues as a freelance violinist. She has been a member of the Maryland Symphony since 2003, the Apollo Orchestra since 2013, and is a founding member and first violinist of the N Street Quartet. Additionally, Kat teaches Lower, Middle and Upper School Strings at the McLean School of Maryland and has maintained a private violin studio since 2005. She graduated from Catholic University in 2005 with a Bachelor of Music in Violin Performance, magna cum laude, and a minor in Philosophy. Originally from Clemson, SC, Kat attended the prestigious SC Governor’s School for the Arts and Humanities residential program as a member of the inaugural class. During her time there, she toured the state as member of the Honors Quartet, which raised awareness and support of the arts in South Carolina. When she is not performing or teaching, she enjoys cooking, traveling, long distance running and spending time with her two children, Zeke and Kora.
