Cellist MaryAnn Perkel has performed in the Washington D.C./Baltimore area for over twenty years. Her musical journey began at the age of four with piano lessons before switching to cello at age ten. Originally from Richmond, VA, Ms. Perkel received a bachelor’s degree in music performance from East Carolina University. She has performed in numerous recitals and ensembles, including the Washington Chorus, the Washington Choral Arts, and the Millennium Stage at the Kennedy Center; the Richmond Symphony, Harrisburg Symphony, Fairfax Symphony, and the Amadeus Orchestra. She is also a regular at area theater orchestras including Baltimore Center Stage, Olney Theater, and the Virginia Museum Theater. Additionally, Ms. Perkel has performed and/or served as a faculty artist in a number of summer festivals including the Round Top (TX) Music Festival, the Des Moines Metro Opera, and the Sewanee (TN) Summer Music Festival. Ms. Perkel maintains an active teaching studio at her home in Ellicott City, MD where she lives with son Noah and trombonist husband, David Perkel.
