Sandy Johnson
Principal Bassoon
Principal Bassoonist, Sandy Sisk attended Bethel College in St. Paul, Minnesota, from 1996-1998. She then attended the Juilliard School until her graduation in 2002 with a Bachelor of Music degree. While at Juilliard, Sisk was a concerto competition finalist, a Gluck Community Service Fellowship participant, and a participant at the Aspen and National Repertory Orchestra music festivals. She has studied with Whitney Crockett, David Carroll and John Miller. Sisk has worked with such famous conductors as Kurt Masur, James Conlan and Emmanuel Ax, and has performed with the Juilliard Orchestra, the Juilliard Symphony and the New Jersey Symphony. Sisk is currently an adjunct faculty bassoon instructor at George Mason University, and serves as bassoonist with the Pendleton Trio. She is also second bassoonist with the Fairfax Symphony Orchestra as well as The United States Air Force Concert Band, where she has been a featured soloist in performances at the National Air and Space Museum and Georgetown University. Additionally, Sisk performs regularly with the National Philharmonic.
