Tommy Atkinson
Principal Second Violin
Tommy Atkinson has performed with the Apollo Orchestra since 2011, and has served as principal second violin since 2014. He also performs with the Loudoun Symphony Orchestra as the assistant concertmaster and conducts the LSO String Workshop, an orchestra for string students and amateur string players in Loudoun County, VA. He earned a bachelor of music with honors from Shenandoah University and a master of music from the University of Maryland, College Park. Tommy is also an instrumental music teacher at Moten Elementary School in Washington, DC. Previously, he taught in Baltimore, El Paso, and Bermuda. When he isn't playing or teaching music, Tommy loves to cook. He can often be found in the kitchen baking things such as focaccia and pretzel bread for friends and family. He also enjoys exercising, especially running and bodyweight strength training.
